So… I guess I was worried for no reason. I felt a little insecure when mom brought the fatso’s home.

(That’s the puppies’ collective

nickname). I know they are foster siblings so they won’t be staying

permanently, but I still was worried I was going to be replaced.  They were getting tons of cuddling with mom and dad!

So… mom and I had some good quality time playing together, and that night they suprised me with a burger! That’s write, a jrwhopper, plain without the bun! WOO HOO *wags tail*. Needless to say my worries went out the window at that point. Though I should act sad more often, for more burgers.  The fatso’s aren’t so bad, though they keep trying to get my toes! (Karma for chewing on mom’s as a puppy?).

I know even if I don’t like “sharing” mom and dad that it is for a good reason that I am.  I may just be a doggy, but if that is my way of contributing to the community then at least I can do something!

Also, they can be quite funny too. Just tonight one of them peed on the floor, then as dad was cleaning it up the other walked over about 2 feet away from him and that one peed! Dad wasn’t too happy, but mom and I thought it was hilarious. Dad got his chance to laugh at her the other day when one of them peed on her in the morning when she was letting everyone out to potty. I think they need some huggies.

Time off

Lainey’s mom , Jenn, here. Miss Lainey is busy with dinner so I thought I would blog. The foster pups are here, and as expected of puppies, they are quite cute. Lainey, although initially excited and curious, is a bit unsure of them and has seemed to slow down her appetite. So tonight I am blogging for her, and spending some time with her, trying to assure her that they are not taking over her blog, her home, or our hearts. Yep, you can certainly tell Lainey is a “teenager” per se. At a 1 1/2 years old she can sometimes be as moody and as fickle as any sixteen year old you’d meet.

We still love her though. Moodswings and all.  I, or she…if she feels up  to it, will let you know how the first couple days with the pups around go.  Thats all for now! Gotta go hang with my favorite girl!

Let me give you a couple pointers…

Oh I crack myself up sometimes. Not all dogs are as humorous as me…okay well not all dogs blog like I do.

Anyways, we have some news yet again. First off, the last 2 of our foster kitties were adopted, and together at that! Yay! Secondly…mom just informed me that we will be taking in 2 foster pointer puppies! (heh…now you laugh at the title…thats right!).

Mom and dad are going on vacation and my favorite uncle and aunt are coming over. Uncle Chris and Aunt Dana! (okay so no real relation, they just happen to be best friends with mom and dad ).  I always hate when mom and dad go out of town. One night is okay, but at two nights I always get scared they aren’t coming home! They always do…but still it isn’t my usual routine…and I’m a creature of habit if there ever was one.

They are going up to Northern Georgia to visit part of dad’s family, something they do pretty much once or twice a year. They talked about taking me with, but want to wait another year *sigh*, so I am stuck staying behind again with the cats. Woe is me! They better bring back treats.

I may try and update while they are gone. Something to keep me entertained/distracted til they get back. Okay…its just about time to go  howl at dad’s alarm clock!

Bittersweet!

So… the adoption event on Saturday went really well! Nobody expected such an amazing outcome! And guess what? There are still people wanting to adopt even after Saturday!

But…. alas it does make me a little sad. Currently…out of my 7 foster siblings… four are GONE! Saturday was the last time we saw them and they were off to new homes! *sniff sniff* they were so cute… Today…mom is taking at least one of the 3 remaining back to the shelter so they can get ready to go with their new family. Somebody had their eye on him for a while and so he is spoken for and we are very happy for him!

So…possibly only 2 kittens left…and at that… they may be gone today too!

The house will feel so empty after having them here for three weeks. The chaos and amusment that 7  7-week old kittens can bring into your life cannot be described! But it’s fun and I am glad we could open up our home to them so that they could get started off healthy and not catch something in the shelter.

*sigh*

Also… I wanted to share with you what the wonderful woman in charge of this event shared with mom and the rest of the volunteers after the event!

Hi everyone,

I am still up in the clouds about the huge success we had at our Smitten with Kittens event and I have an update. There were actually 27 kittens adopted from the event. Someone came back on Sunday to adopt 2 that they saw at the event. So we passed last year’s total by 11 more kittens adopted. (Actually 2 were adult cats lucky for them) I am so happy for all the kitties most went today to be spayed and neutered the rest go out tomorrow and then they will all be in their new homes to become loved creatures of society. What lucky little purr babies.

Does that not make you smile? I say that it is a bittersweet thing… only for the fact that I had so much fun with them…but it really does feel like a nice little victory to know these cats will be off to become someone’s loving companion.

Another way to help

If you would like to help Seminole County Animal services but do not have room in your life for one of my awesome lil foster siblings, mom just told me you can vote for Seminole County Animal Services so that they can win a grant and have more money to care for the animals. More money to help out the animals can mean a little less animals having to be put down. All it takes is an itty bitty click!

Smitten With Kittens

Well… I can definitely say my foster siblings have been quite the handful, the last several weeks they have been staying with us. Mom and dad have gotten some funny pics of them that we plan on sharing later. For now though, this is a slightly sad post. Why you ask?
Because I most likely will be saying goodbye to my fuzzy little foster siblings. It’s bittersweet because while I would LOVE for them to stay, I know they are meant to go on and enrich the lives of other families as much as they have enriched ours.

Saturday Seminole County Animal Services is having an event called “Smitten with Kittens”. If you are local, it would be great if you could come out. Although mom and I won’t be there, our lil foster kittens will (minus one, who is already spoken for! YAY!).

If you have been thinking about adopting a kitten, saturday is the day to do it! Adoption fees are very reasonable and include their first year vaccinations, microchipping, and spay/neuter…well worth the adoption fee… actually quite a deal. Mom spent way more on me for all my shots and my spaying!

Here is the flyer if you would like to get more info!And if you are not looking for a new kitten…don’t be afraid to spread the word! Animal services is getting crowded and when they do, it unfortunately comes down to euthanizing to make more space at times and is hard on both the employees and volunteers, and well especially the animals. Skip the pet store…because these guys need homes! We will be updating with pics of each individual kitten before Saturday…so keep your eyes peeled!

Itty bitty kitty Committy!

I know…I know… we haven’t updated in a while.  We have been quite busy…but I know it is no excuse…

But today we have some exciting news…. I have 7…count em…7 new foster siblings! Mom picked them up today from Animal Services. They are about 7 weeks old currently.

Personally, I am a little scared of them…after all Olive was once that tiny and still had the evilness of a thousand ninjas….and there is seven of them.
